Why Eloise Bridgerton doesn't want to marry

Kép
I have not read the books. This is only about the show. Eloise Bridgerton is among the kind of fictional women who declare and reinforce the idea that they will never marry. The people around these kinds of characters usually hold out hope that this is not true and they are usually right to do so. Unlike characters who are say aro/ace, characters like Eloise have some reason behind their insistence on never wanting to marry. In fact, their insistence shows that this is a choice rather than a preference. In the case of Eloise, the reason behind her insistence seems obvious: feminism. However, that isn’t the actual reason. The reason lies in the trauma of the night of Hyacinth’s birth. In episode 2 of season 1, Eloise has a conversation with her sister, Daphne, asking her if she is frightened of marriage and children. Eloise recalls the night when their youngest sister, Hyacinth was born. She talks about how their mother, Violet, almost died that night, that her screams rattled the windo...

The character development of Galadriel (Rings of Power) - reupload

I've been thinking a lot about The Rings of Power and certain aspects of it specifically. I've seen the accusations that it's bad writing more times than I would care to count. I don't believe that to be true. The Prime series is one of the best-written shows I have ever seen. And the number one accusation I see people being wrong about is, of course, Galadriel. I have something of an upper hand here as I relate to this version of Galadriel on a deep level and thus it's possible I see and understand more of her than others. But of course, just Haters being Haters is very much present here. Whatever the case I'd like to explain what I noticed about Galadriel's character. Galadriel starts out on the show as a single-minded, vengefully driven character. Or so it seems on the surface. Those who see beneath that see that she is deeply hurt. Galadriel has an immeasurable amount of pain and loneliness in her eyes since the first scene playing out in the present. Wh...

Why Galadriel doesn't talk about Celeborn

Kép
Galadriel has lost a lot of family in the events of the first age. When it comes to Rings of Power, perhaps the biggest surprise was hearing that she also lost her husband. Now anyone who’s seen the LOTR movies or read the books, knows Celeborn isn’t dead, but that’s not the point right now. Criticism came from the fact that Galadriel only mentioned him once throughout the show's entire first season, saying it doesn’t make sense that he matters so little to her, demanding justice for Celeborn. However, I believe it’s not as simple. Here’s why I believe Galadriel only brought up having lost Celeborn only once. Unlike her husband, Galadriel mentions having lost her brother, Finrod, on several occasions. This is because it’s a different kind of pain. Galadriel saw Finrod’s body, she knows how he died, and she knows who’s responsible. Celeborn is a different story. As Galadriel states, he went to war and was never seen again. His death is uncertain. Galadriel cannot know his fate, does...
